Following its joyous production of The Elixir of Love, this acclaimed company presents Verdi’s magnificent opera Macbeth, based on Shakespeare’s famous tragedy. Macbeth is a brave soldier who fights for the king of Scotland, but when a mischievous coven of witches prophesies that he will wear the crown himself, ruthless ambition drives Macbeth and his wife to terrible deeds. Witches, cutthroats, ghosts and spirits abound in this exciting tale of murder, madness and revenge.

The glorious music sees Verdi at his most theatrical: his rhythmic energy and gift for wonderful tunes drive the tragedy of the anti-hero and heroine to an exciting and powerful conclusion. Set at the time of Shakespeare, with beautiful period costumes, superb professional soloists, chorus and orchestra, and as always sung in English, this dramatic production must not be missed.
